Class Observations

As teachers, we have a certain viewpoint (both literally and metaphorically) in our classrooms.  Sometimes it is hard to see our class from the student perspective, or to effectively analyze our own teaching methods and classroom structure. A classroom observation can provide an outside viewpoint on your teaching practices, as well as insight into how students are interacting within the learning environment.

Classroom observations, offered by the CTLE Faculty Liaisons, always begin with a conversation. We will meet to discuss your goals, any specific concerns you have, and the content and structure of the class I will observe. A copy of your syllabus as well as any materials for the class session should be provided. After the observation, we will meet again to discuss my feedback, thoughts, and ideas, as well as your impressions on the class.

A summary of the observation and subsequent discussion can be provided for your teaching portfolio or records.
