Information Literacy Instructional Services

There are multiple ways faculty can integrate information literacy instruction into their courses. The faculty librarians in the Research & Scholarly Services department can develop customized, course-integrated learning experiences for your students, which may take the form of workshops, lectures, presentations, activities, research guides, or a combination of these teaching formats.

Course-Integrated Instruction

  • Faculty can information literacy instruction so that the students in your courses will become familiar with the Library’s resources and services.
  • Library faculty will collaborate with you to customize instruction to meet individual course needs, focusing on the relevant resources for your subject area.
  • Your students will be introduced to research methods, search strategies, and approaches to critically evaluating the information they find in order to effectively meet curricular academic research requirements.

Research Consultations

  • Undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty may email a subject liaison librarian to make an appointment to discuss a research topic, develop a search strategy, or examine resources relevant to a paper or research project.
  • Liaison librarians offer both overview and in-depth assistance with the resources best suited to support your research needs.

  • Work with your subject liaison librarian to develop a customized online research guide of library resources and strategies for your course.

Information Literacy Stipends

  • The Library offers Information Literacy Stipends to faculty to facilitate the integration of information literacy into academic courses.
  • Stipend recipients collaborate with a faculty librarian to develop assignments and assessments that integrate information skills and concepts into student learning outcomes.
