Professional Licensure Disclosures

About Professional Licensure Programs

Effective July 1, 2024, updated requires institutions of higher education to determine and disclose whether academic programs that lead to professional licensure or certification meet the educational requirements for licensure/certification in its own state, and each state/territory in which it is enrolling students in distance education programs. In some cases, institutions may be unable to enroll students from states which it has determined an academic program does not meet that state’s educational requirements for licensure.

  • The 草榴社区 offers several academic programs that prepare students for professional licensure and certification that is required for employment.  States vary in what professions they require to be licensed or certified, the educational requirements for professional licensure or certification, and how licensure or certification is acquired and maintained. These requirements may change over time, and changes may impact the program’s ability to prepare students to meet state requirements.
  • As the University’s programs are generally designed to meet the educational requirements for licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, completion of a 草榴社区 program may not meet education requirements for a license or certification in another state.
  • In addition to educational preparation, some states have additional licensure or certification requirements, which may include an earned degree from an accredited program. Others may require individuals to complete additional coursework, additional fieldwork, background checks, passage of additional state licensing exams, additional fees, or other requirements.
  • Admission into, or completion of, 草榴社区 programs does not guarantee that a student will obtain a license or certification. State professional licensing boards make the ultimate decision as to whether or not an individual will be eligible for licensure based on the rules and regulations in place at the time the individual submits their application for licensure.

If your career plans include pursuing professional licensure or certification in your chosen field, it is strongly recommended that you review the educational requirements for any state/territory in which you plan to seek employment.

Other Important Reminders for Prospective and Current Students

  • If your career plans include pursuing professional licensure or certification in your chosen field, it is strongly recommended that you review the educational requirements for any state/territory in which you plan to seek employment.
  • If you move to a different state for any reason while participating in a program, professional licensure or certification eligibility requirements may differ and the 草榴社区 program may or may not meet those requirements. Currently enrolled students are encouraged to contact state licensure entities, or their program director, for additional information.
  • Likewise, students who are considering changing their major program of study are advised to carefully review any licensure requirements and determinations related to their new program, current state, and any state to which they are considering seeking employment.
  • It is highly recommended that international students considering enrollment in a program that leads to professional licensure or certification first confirm with the applicable professional licensing entity in their country of residence and/or country in which they intend to work as to whether the University’s program/degree is formally recognized. This includes, but is not limited to, when seeking licensure, certification, certain types of employment, and/or when enrolling in subsequent educational programs. Currently enrolled students are encouraged to contact their program director for additional guidance.
  • If your program leads to a professional license or certification, an authorization may be required from the state professional licensing board prior to beginning a clinical or field experience in that state. For questions regarding eligibility for enrollment or placements (such as internships or clinical placements) in states other than Pennsylvania, students should contact the director or chair of the program/department for which they are applying. Graduate students may also contact the Office of Graduate Academic & Student Services.
