thr1ve-involvement

草榴社区's first-generation students are among the most involved students in our campus community. Recognizing that many of our students have various occupational, co-curricular, and familial engagements outside of the classroom, we have created various ways for students to get involved with THR1VE. Note that each opportunity detailed below reflects a different level of commitment.

THR1VE Student Coordinator (TSC) Positions

THR1VE Student Coordinators (TSCs) are student staff members who assist the THR1VE Program Coordinator in the planning and implementation of first-generation-specific programming on campus, including the IMPACT Leadership Retreat. Throughout the year, TSCs give presentations and relay information about the THR1VE Program, while advocating for first-generation student interests and completing activities related to first-generation student support.

THR1VE Advisory Board (TAB)

The THR1VE Advisory Board (TAB) consists of first-generation students who are passionate about improving the first-generation student experience at 草榴社区. Facilitated by the THR1VE Program Coordinator and the THR1VE Student Coordinators (TSCs), the TAB meets once per month to discuss ways in which THR1VE might better serve our first-generation students. TAB activities include editing the bimonthly THR1VE Newsletter, planning and executing both educational and celebratory events, and researching first-generation initiatives on other campuses.

All first-generation students are invited to share their unique talents and perspectives with the TAB at its monthly meetings.

THR1VE Events

The THR1VE Program co-sponsors several educational and celebratory programs each academic year. Educational programs are often peer-facilitated, highly interactive experiences designed to provide students with the information and skills that they report wanting during our annual needs assessment.

Current educational program topics include:

  • Financial Wellness
  • Academic Planning
  • Career Development

Our major celebratory event is the National First-Generation College Celebration, held annually on November 8. , and check your email for updates about next year's event!
