CHEW'S Fall 2024 Weekly Wellness Classes begins Monday, August 26th! Check out the class locations on RoyalSync, IM Leagues or email chew@scranton.edu. Drop-in classes taught by professional instructors to promote stress relief and increase strength, flexibility, and mindfulness. Classes are free and open to students, staff and faculty.

Mindfulness Meditation:
This half-hour class provides the fundamentals of Mindfulness Meditation, which is shown to reduce anxiety, depression and to improve well-being. Through increased awareness of body sensations, thoughts and emotions these practices are intended to enhance the participant’s ability to recognize and respond to the stressors of everyday life with greater skill and resilience. Through meditation and awareness practices, we will explore this practical and scientifically research approach to living fully in the present moment.

Instructor: Lisa Rigau MS, BSN, RN, Healthy Lifestyle Management
class series. Designed for all levels, from beginners to seasoned practitioners, this series
promises a transformative experience that nurtures the body, mind, and spirit.
In "Calm and Strong," you'll be guided through a harmonious flow of poses that cultivate inner
peace and build physical strength. Each session will leave you feeling balanced, connected to
yourself, and attuned to the collective energy of the class. Certified Yoga Instructor Miranda
Miaris will offer modifications and variations, ensuring a supportive and inclusive environment
for all participants.
Whether you're seeking a gentle introduction to yoga or looking to deepen your practice, "Calm
and Strong" invites you to explore the full spectrum of your potential.
Embrace a journey of self-discovery and empowerment, and emerge from each class feeling
revitalized and centered.

Light Weights & Abs: Light Weights & Abs is an upbeat group fitness class combining total body toning and aerobic exercise. Have fun while burning calories and toning your muscles. Please wear comfortable workout attire and sneakers. (Open to Faculty & Staff only)

Pickleball: Join us for America’s fastest growing sport and play with colleagues! The Employee Wellness is thrilled to announce Drop-in Pickleball on the schedule. In collaboration with Rec Sports, dcrop-in Pickleball will be held on Tuesdays from 12-1pm in the Byron Gym courts for staff and faculty. No experience is necessary, all skill levels are welcome. Please email chew@scranton.edu if you are interested in being on the Pickleball email list.
Energizing Yoga : This class is for experienced students as well as beginners with a higher fitness level. Breath is emphasized throughout this practice. The 45-minute Energizing Yoga classes are designed to cultivate heat in the body with creative sequences involving sun salutations, standing and seated postures and a strong focus on the power of breath awareness. Energizing Yoga classes tend to be more aerobic, and will incorporate poses that cultivate strength, breath, and body awareness. The class includes sun salutations, standing, seated and reclining poses, as well as some balancing, poses. Relaxation closes the class.
