Universal Apostolic Preferences
On February 19, 2019, Rev. Arturo Sosa S.J. announced four Universal Apostolic Preferences (UAPSs) for the Society of Jesus over the next decade:
- Promoting Discernment and the Spiritual Exercises
- Walking with the Excluded
- Journeying with Youth
- Caring for our Common Home
Laudato Si
Laudato Si addresses the key themes regarding stewardship of God's creation. This encyclical takes its name from Saint Francis of Assisi, Canticle of the Creatures which depicts creation as "a sister with whom we share our life and a beautiful mother who opens her arms to embrace us." Pope Francis declares, "This sister now cries out to us because of the harm we have inflicted on her by our irresposible use and abuse of the goods with which God has endowed her."
Gaudete et Exsultate
Pope Francis has written a new apostolic exhortation on "the call to holiness in the contemporary world." which is titled "Gaudete et Exsultate", meaning, "Rejoice and Be Glad."
